Your first visit to North Tawton Dental Practice

We are very aware that the journey to good oral health is a joint one taken by you and us working together. Therefore, each patient’s treatment is tailored to suit their needs and wants, and their pocket.

At your first appointment, the dentist will go through your medical history with you, discussing any factors which may have a bearing on your general health and how this may affect the health of your mouth. A thorough examination of the inside of your cheeks, lips and tongue follows, checking for any pathology and then a detailed inspection of teeth and gums, including digital x-rays as required.

After the examination you will be given a list of treatment options, their advantages and disadvantages with the costs involved, so that you can discuss the treatment that you require with the dentist. If the treatment plan is complicated, often we will email or post it to you, so that you can consider it at your leisure. That way you’ll be able to make an informed choice of what would be best for you.
